“I wanna make bank bro.”- Brennan Huff

“Imagine the most beautiful greenhouse you’ve ever seen. Each plant is carefully and uniquely fed and cultivated with the sole intention of bringing out the absolute best version of itself, the result of which is a utopic explosion of textures, colors, fragrances, shapes, shadows and light. How are humans any different? Under the right conditions, with the right care and support, each of us would come into the full bloom of our being. Without those opportunities, without compassion, understanding, guidance, nurturance and protection, we wither and die long before taking our last breath.”- from Born in Providence, Finding Our Way Back to Love

The next trillion dollar idea isn’t AI, it’s human resilience optimization. Investors? Possibly YOU!

According to data from the World Bank Human Capital Index (yes that is a real thing) the crops are not doing so well. The ‘crops’ are us. Maybe they should rebrand themselves Crops R Us? In this World Bank Index, human capital are assessed in a variety of categories to measure our viability: Health, Education, Adult Employment Rates and total Human Capital Index Rates are all significantly declining.

Human Capital is in crisis.

Leaders in politics and business globally do not care about social justice but they do care about their assets and investments.

WE are their primary source of income and as assets our value is significantly depreciating; lowest birth rates, declining education scores, increasing crime and youth suicide rates, increasing rates of homelessness, highest divorce rates, increasing rates of addiction which is costing the federal government $44.5 billion to address. I know, huge bummer. But wait, there’s more!

We’ve seen a 91% surge in porn consumption since 2000 which is directly linked to decreasing rates of marriage and, the global prevalence of eating disorders has doubled since 2000. Eating disorders are both a substance and behavioral addition and the most fatal of all mental health conditions. Food is killing more people than every other drug on the planet.

Investors in human capital, those who rely on US as their primary source for generating the wealth they hold so dear, are panicking. Good. Maybe now they’ll listen. (But probably not)

Why are the crops dying? Well, it’s not rocket science-it’s neuroscience! We are dying from the multi-generational impact of chronically dysregulated nervous systems.

We know they don’t like the word trauma; should we call it Systemic Blight? A Sociobiological Plague? Oppression Death? They love saying it’s because we’re lazy. And I love irrefutable facts. We are not lazy. We are morally, physically, emotionally, socially, systemically, energetically, spiritually, and neuorbiologically exhausted.

The name we call this global dis-ease is irrelevant. What matters is the solution and neuroscience has given us that: Building Resilience. Expanding capacity.

I’m not talking about stress maxing or increasing crop capacity for allostatic load. I’m talking about feeding and watering the people. Just like any other living being, human crops have basic needs: sleep, fresh air, sunlight, water, nutritious food (not mass produced food products, but even lettuce has been sketchy lately), exercise, safety, love and belonging, self-esteem, agency, dignity, play, purpose and peak experiences.

When we delete or restrict access to any of these, humans malfunction. We are malfunctioning and the proof is in the data.

World leaders, your assets are depreciating which means your investments are in crisis.

What can we do? Call an emergency Resolution Summit and gather a panel of the following:

Neuroscientists

Economists

Sociologists

Theologians

Behaviorists

Educators

Law and Policy Makers

Journalists

And Voices of Lived Experience to properly inform those in power about what’s going on here in the dirt.

Humus, Dirt, Humiliation…latin…or possibly Greek.

Child abuse is currently costing 428 billion dollars annually in the U.S alone. Dead children, such as those resulting from human trafficking, cost 16 million per fatal case versus $830,000 per non-fatal case. And we know how much they love children.

If only these institutions could put their egos aside, come out of their silos and unify an operating system across sectors to align with what neuroscience is teaching us about how to foster health in human capital..just …imagine.

Consider me one of the dandelions of human crops; a multifaceted expert, a fortuitous glitch in the matrix, a reluctant sadist, a busted appliance. I did not write my book to garner sympathy. I wrote it as an intersectional testimony and call to action to rectify the inhumane contrast between lived experience and the operating system. We need to stop celebrating the self-abuse required for surviving conditions that are actually killing the majority of human capital.

The very small percentage of super survivors throughout history are essentially genetic mutations and, since I’m not procreating (for a million reasons, one being that it costs a million dollars to raise one healthy child and I don’t have a million dollars and two, I’ve spent the majority of my life reparenting myself) my genes won’t be passed along to strengthen herd immunity from the voracious appetites of insufferable billionaires.

What I do offer in the book validates data from neuroscience; things like stability, education, healthcare, safe, emotionally available people to act as mentors and guides, meditation, yoga, mindfulness, art, living wages, meta-cognition, guiding beliefs/values, walking, nutritious food, purpose and pathways to live out that purpose along with LOVE and secure attachment promote and expand the capacity of living beings to function optimally.

DUH!

Human resilience is not a charitable expense. We don’t want charity. We want meaningful change. Funding human resilience is civilizations highest return on investment. Or as Frederick Douglass said “It is far easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.”

We’ve been saying it for centuries. Maybe now that we’re dying they’ll listen.~

In other news, I’m supposed to be writing the workbook but this piece demanded to come out so here we are, and today it hit particularly close to home. Charlie said it’s time for a walk so that’s enough world-peacing for one day. Oh, and my book is still available on Amazon...the irony! 🙂 xo
